Honda Sales up in June

Published on July 20 2016

With 16,905 vehicles sold in June 2016 of which 15,273 were Honda, Honda Canada saw sales increase by 2.0 percent for the whole group last month, and 4.0 percent specifically for vehicles carrying the Honda badge. This is a new sales record for a month of June.

Sales of Honda are propelled mainly by the Japanese automaker’s utility vehicles. Indeed, sales of the new Honda HR-V, a sub-compact SUV introduced last year, increased from 703 in June 2015 to 1,285 in June 2016.

The Honda Pilot saw its sales increase by 22.0 percent with 706 units sold. Sales of the Odyssey minivan totaled 1,437, an increase of 10 percent compared to the same month in 2015.

“As forecasted, the summer months are driving increased demand for our light truck line-up, as Odyssey and Pilot sales surged 10 and 22 percent respectively in June,” said Dave Gardner, Senior Vice President of Operations, Honda Canada Inc. “With the all-new Ridgeline pick-up truck back in the line-up this summer and the compact HR-V continuing to grow in popularity with Canadians, we look toward further record-setting months.”
